It only got worse today, as the Bears lost nickle cornerback Kelvin Hayden to a season-ending hamstring tear. Hayden tore his hamstring on Saturday night during practice. Bears Head Coach Marc Trestman said Hayden will have surgery and expects a six- to eight-month recovery for Hayden. The team also lost CB D.J. Moore this offseason, and those two combined for three INTs and 11 pass-deflections last year.

Hayden was listed as the Bears starting nickelback on the depth chart, meaning the Bears could have anywhere from 4-6 new defensive starters from last year when they open the 2013 season against the Cincinnati Bengals.

For the first time in a long-while, it could be the Bears offense that carries the defense.
