New Orleans Saints Joe Morgan suffers torn meniscus, ACL
By Bryan Rose
The torn ACL has become Major League Baseball’s equivalent of the hamstring strain. The injury has seemingly struck way more than usual during the first few days of NFL training camp and New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Morgan has become the most recent victim.
Morgan was diagnosed with not only a partially torn ACL, but also a torn meniscus, both injuries considered season ending.
Per Larry Holder:
"Morgan has torn meniscus and partially torn ACL. Coleman torn pectoral is also out for the season."
The talented wideout suffered the injury during a scrimmage Saturday afternoon but opted for a second opinion on Tuesday. That meeting confirmed the original diagnoses and Morgan’s promising breakout season was over before it could begin – a tough blow to both the Saints and Morgan.
The former Walsh University product was slated to be the third receiver in the Saints’ pass heavy offense and he was hoping to build off his impressive 38 yards per reception last year.
The third year pro finished last season with 10 catches, three of them ending in a touchdown.
