LeBron James reports for jury duty in Ohio
By Chase Ruttig
After winning his second consecutive NBA title against the San Antonio Spurs in a seven game classic, LeBron James is taking time this offseason to enjoy his home state as he kicks it in Ohio and Akron. However even one of the most recognizable athletes in the country isn’t exempt from taking part in the democratic process of jury duty.
LeBron, Summit County, Ohio’s highest paid resident, tweeted a photo of himself reporting for jury duty this morning. Of course having a book in tow in case jury duty dragged on and he needed to kill some time.
James drew a buzz at the county courthouse in downtown Akron but was not seated on a jury for trial and left the building at 10:30 a.m., according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
James has been spending some quality time in the city he made famous during his days at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s when he was arguably the most famous and recognized high school basketball player of all time, landing the cover of SI as a junior in high school and leading him and his high school friends to a state championship that has been rehashed in a book and in the movie More Than a Game.
It seems that King James is relishing returning back to civilian life after a busy 24 month schedule that included two MVP’s, two NBA titles, and a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics. A return to “normal life” wouldn’t be fitting without a trip to one of the most normal parts of the civilian experience, jury duty.
