According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are “clearing the path” for rookie Le’Veon Bell to become their “workhorse”.

Bell has easily been the team’s best running back in training camp so far and is expected to see first team reps in Saturday night’s pre-season opener against the New York Giants.

"“Don’t be surprised if you see Le’Veon getting some snaps with those guys. I think he has earned that. I think how he is running the ball speaks for itself. Don’t be surprised to see him getting some snaps after those guys are out of the game,, as well. He like a lot of guys, we need to get a lot of exposure to.” Head Coach Mike Tomlin told the Post-Gazette"

The Steelers want Bell to take control of the back field and become their their third-down back and it sounds like they are going to give him every opportunity to become that workhorse they are looking for.

Bell is looking to be Pittsburghs No. 1 back when it comes to go toe to toe with the Tennessee Titans in their season opener. Running backs Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer are also looking to seal up a No. 1 or No. 2 half back spot on this depth chart.
