Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Texas Rangers have indeed put in a claim for Chicago White Sox outfielder Alex Rios.

FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal was the first to report but did not know who the team was who put the claim on Rios. Now it’s out in the open, the Texas Rangers are infact still interested in acquiring Alex Rios.

Before the deadline, the Rangers were looking at two possible trades they could pull off with the selling White Sox. One being Alejandro De Aza, the other being the man they claimed, Alex Rios.

They ultimately passed but could try harder to work out a trade now that Nelson Cruz has decided to not appeal his 50 game suspension for performance enhancing drugs.

The 32 year old outfielder is batting .277/.328/.421 with 12 home runs and 26 stolen bases in 109 games for the Chicago White Sox.

Now that Cruz is pretty much done for the rest of the year and the Rangers are looking to make the playoffs, they should get a deal done fast, giving up a good prospect or two in exchange for Rios.

We will keep you posted as more is sure to develop in regards to Rios, between the Rangers and the White Sox in the next few days, if not, hours.

The White Sox still have the ability to pull him off waivers.
