Clemson Tigers wide receiver and veritable speed demon Sammy Watkins is already one of the most exciting and gifted players in college football. Yet the multi-talented Watkins wants an even more versatile role in the Clemson offense this season, which would give me nightmares if I were a defensive coordinator.
Watkins, who caught 57 passes for 708 yards and three touchdowns last season, spoke about his off-season training to TigersNow.com, saying he took reps at all three wide receiver spots and even had some practice at running back. Watkins went to talk about his expectations for the upcoming season:
It’s going to be a great season for me to get prepared to move around and touch the ball a lot. I need to touch the ball 12 times a game or however many times they give it to me, to be a focus on the defense and so other players can get open also.
Watkins and the Clemson Tigers will be taking on the Georgia Bulldogs on August 31st.
