Without even making it to an actual game, the Atlanta Falcons have been hit with an early injury that will keep right tackle Mike Johnson out for the entire season.

From the Associated Press report:

"The Atlanta Falcons have placed right tackle Mike Johnson on injured reserve.Johnson dislocated his left ankle and broke his left leg in Tuesday’s practice. He will have surgery next week."

The Falcons waived punter Sean Sellwood and signed offensive tackle Jeff Nady for some depth to back up Lamar Holmes who started in last night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Johnson was a third round pick in the NFL Draft in 2010 and made his debut with the Falcons in 2011. He’s played 18 total games as of 2012 and started in just one of those games.

The tackle is originally from the Alabama Crimson Tide who made first-team All-American in 2008 and 2009 along with first-team All-SEC in 2009.

Johnson’s replacement could bring a little bit more experience in as he’s started in 36 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
