Detroit Lions receiver Ryan Broyles all the way back from ACL Tear
By Jason Marcum
Detroit Lions receiver Ryan Broyles is recovering from his second ACL tear in as many years, but the receiver’s far ahead of his pace from last year. The Lions’ second-year pro just might be the key to the team’s passing game. This offense needs a legitimate No. 2 WR threat behind Calvin Johnson, and Broyles showed serious skills last year before his injury.
Broyles suffered the injury on December 2, 2012 and was healthy enough by June to participate in three consecutive days of minicamp. Doctors cleared him to practice at the start of camp and he said he has had no setbacks since then.
Thus far into training camp, Broyles has split time in camp in the slot with veteran Nate Burleson, while Calvin Johnson and Patrick Edwards line up on the outside. It still looks as though Broyles will be held out of tonight’s game vs. the New York Jets as a precautionary move. Delmas went through individual drills Thursday but did not work in team drills.
