There was an incident this summer where San Francisco 49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks allegedly broke a bottle over his teammates head. He reporetedly hit him with the bottle three times then punched teammate Lamar Divens in the face. After the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office investigated they decided not to file charges against Brooks because of a lack of evidence.

Brooks hadn’t publicly addressed the situation till Thursday night and offered very little.

“I have nothing to say about it right now,” Brooks said, via the Associated Press. “It’s a distraction to the team and I just want to move forward. It’s in the past. What happened obviously happened. It’s a distraction to the team, so I don’t think it needs to be talked about. It’s not about football, and that’s how I want to approach it.”

Seriously though, no apology for assaulting a teammate? As long was one was issued privately and to the team I suppose is all that matters.

49ers safety Donte Whitner said, “He’s tremendously sorry for what he did, anybody would be embarrassed.”

“There was no apology needed,” Brooks said. “I had nothing to say about it.”

Brooks started every regular-season game for the 49ers last year in his fifth NFL season.
