The Baltimore Ravens are in desperate need of any kind of receiving threat. They’ve lost Anquan Boldin & Dennis Pitta for good, and a number of other receiving threats are no the mend with injuries.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens plan to sign free agent wide receiver Brandon Stokley to a contract

Stokley originally entered the NFL when the Ravens made him their fourth-round draft pick in 1999 back to the organization.

Ironically, Stokley returns to the franchise who helped lead to their first Super Bowl titlee. He caught three passes for 52 yards and a 38-yard touchdown pass to help lead the Ravens to their first Super Bowl victory in a 34-7 win over the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV.

Last season with the Denver Broncos, Stokley caught 45 passes for 544 yards and five touchdowns.

It’s unlikely the 13-year NFL pro will make his preseason debut this week, given his age and need to take in the Ravens playbook. He’ll be competing with Torrey Smith, Jacoby Jones and Deonte Thompson for playing time at WR.
