Cody Ransom and Nate Schierholtz return to Chicago Cubs lineup tonight
By David Miniel
The Chicago Cubs have Cody Ransom and Nate Schierholtz in the line up for tonight’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Cody Ransom will get another shot at picking up third baseman job that opened up last week for this club. Donnie Murphy who started off hot against the Philadelphia Phillies (hitting 3 home runs in that series), is just hitting 5 for 15 on this road trip.
Ransom is just 3 for 41 since the All-Star break, which includes an 0-17 slump during the Cubbies three-city trip to start the second half of the season.
Now with Nate Schierholtz, it’s a different story. I’m patiently waiting for Schierholtz to be waived, eventually traded. I hope it doesn’t happen, he seems to be doing everything right this season. He’s swinging the bat like he never has before in his career, hitting 15 home runs with 46 RBI’s.
Schierholtz will bat fifth and play right field, as Ransom will bat seventh and play third base as Carlos Villanueva gets the start against the Cardinals and rookie Michael Wacha.
Catcher Dioner Navarro is available for tonight’s game.
Navarro was sent to the hospital on Wednesday after his collision at home plate with Chase Utley. All the tests returned negative and was able to get through pre-game drills today.
