The Kansas City Royals have designated left handed pitcher Francisley Bueno for assignment.

Bueno was called up on Thursday and appeared in just one game with the Royals.

The 32 year old should clear waivers unclaimed and remain with the organization, unless there is a team out there who thinks they could use him, which is doubtful.

The Royals also placed outfielder Lorenzo Cain on the 15 day disabled list, retroactive to August 9th with a strained left oblique.

Cain apparently suffered the injury during Thursday’s game against the Boston Red Sox and as of now, it’s unclear on how long he will be sidelined. So with him being sidelined and the organization not having an idea when he will be back, they have decided to call back up Will Smith.

And no, not the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Left hander Will Smith was sent down to Triple-A Omaha a few days ago to make room for Danny Duffy who started against the Minnesota Twins this past Wednesday.

Smith, was optioned after having three perfect relief innings in a 7-0 loss against the Twins last Tuesday.

He returns to the ball club with a 3.26 ERA over seven appearances, including one start with the Royals.
