Quarterback Jameill Showers never quite got the opportunity to shine at Texas A&M that he was hoping for. He redshirted his freshman year, played behind Ryan Tannehill the next season, and then lost his job to some guy named Johnny Manziel.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Showers, now at UTEP, has been asked repeatedly if he regrets his decision to transfer considering the current situation with Johnny Football. His response hasn’t wavered:

It just as easily could have gone the other way; he doesn’t get in trouble, I’d be on the bench. I’d rather be here and playing than be there wondering. (El Paso Times)

The UTEP Miners will visit College Station on November 2nd, a game that Showers says he has circled on his calendar:

There will be a lot of friendly trash talk. It will be weird, but it will be fun. It’ll be a little bit louder on offense this time, but I’ve had a lot of support from the A&M fans. That’s a special place. And that game will be fun. (El Paso Times)
