The Georgia Bulldogs concluded their two-a-day practices over the weekend with a team scrimmage under the bright lights at Sanford Stadium. However, before the scrimmage took place, Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt had a bit of a detour for the team so that they could relax and have some fun before bringing an end to their camp.
Instead of going directly to the stadium, Richt took the team in two buses to the Gabrielsen Natatorium, which hosts the universities swimming and diving teams.
“I thought it was nice to practice under the lights, especially since our first game is at night,” Richt said. “Everybody practiced well. They had good mental focus considering we had a couple of weather delays. It was a good day.”
With just three weeks until the team kicks off their 2013 season, the players really enjoyed having some time to enjoy themselves and build even more camaraderie.
“Today meant a lot to us,” junior offensive tackle Mark Beard said. “A lot of guys are tired, and this was Coach’s way to show us some love. We really enjoyed it. After 11 straight days of camp, we decided to give the boys a chance to jump in the pool,” Richt said. “It’s always fun watching our freshmen jump for the first time.”
