There is one drill that the LSU Tigers always break out to signal that it is time to start playing some real football. The ‘Big Cat’ drill allows the players a chance to get some full-contact practicing in and smack the pads around as they look to prove who is the toughest player head-to-head.

To show that the practices are officially underway, LSU broke out the ‘Big Cat’ during the team’s first full-squad practice.

As you would expect, everyone was excited.

It definitely felt like football today,” defensive end Justin Maclin said, via The Advocate. “We actually got to go out and play, get some contact on, and haven’t been able to have (that). You can tell everybody’s adrenaline is running.”

Players always look forward to this time in practice and the ‘Big Cat’ drill is one that allows the team to fully embrace the style of toughness and physicality that head coach Les Miles wants them to hit the field with.

We will have to see during the season if it worked this time.
