Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has not kept his desire to leave Old Trafford a secret. The English international is hoping to transfer to Chelsea will being clearly frustrated with the Red Devils, but they are calling on their Golden Boot winner Robin van Persie to convince Rooney to stay.

Van Persie is trying to be a good teammate and telling Rooney everything he wants to hear, which includes the idea that Van Persie joined Man U just for a chance to play with Rooney.

“Everyone wants Wayne to stay and deep down I think he feels the same” said Van Persie. “One of the reasons I joined Manchester United was to play with Wayne. I hope he stays. Not only is he a great goalscorer, he does so much work across the pitch.

“He hates to lose – that’s why you see him one minute pressing for goal, the next minute defending ferociously. He is an asset to any team. He will come good again. He is a strong lad.”

This situation is expected to go all the way to the deadline and with Manchester United already turning down two offers from Chelsea it could get very interesting. Hopefully for Rooney, the Blues will come back with an offer that Man U cannot turn down and he can finally get his walking papers from Old Trafford.
