The Los Angeles Dodgers’ best hitter that’s not Yasiel Puig is still out as the team begins a three-game series against the New York Mets on Monday.

Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times confirmed that Hanley Ramirez is still out of the lineup with his shoulder injury he suffered on August 4th.

Rotoworld reports that the shortstop went through a full workout on Sunday but still doesn’t feel ready to start.

"Hanley put himself through a strenuous workout Sunday in hopes of being back in there Monday, but obviously he’s still not feeling well enough. He’s now missed eight straight starts with a jammed right shoulder, though there’s been no indication to this point that the Dodgers might be thinking of placing him on the disabled list. Nick Punto is handling shortstop Monday."

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told the Times after the game Sunday night that they don’t regret not putting Ramirez on the disabled list. The team has gone 6-1 in his absence, and the only time he’s seen the field was a pinch hit opportunity August 9th against the Tampa Bay Rays.

"“What does it hurt you? We’ve been able to survive it so far,” Mattingly said. “If it ends up being 10 [days], it still saves us five.”"
