Buffalo Bills quarterback Kevin Kolb is fighting for the starting quarterback position and possibly his career with rookie E.J. Manuel out of Florida State. Kolb has missed time due to an injury that came from tripping on a mat and attending to family affairs.

”I just got through telling everybody, ‘Man, this is the most comfortable I’ve felt in a while,”’ Kolb said. ”And for something goofy like that to happen, was very frustrating.”

After a solid performance from E.J. Manuel in a 44-20 beat down of the Indianapolis Colts, in Indianapolis, Kolb might be feeling the pressure to return to practice before he loses the job. E.J. Manuel completed 16 of 21 passes for 107 yards, 1 touchdown and a 102.7 rating. Manuel also was never sacked.

Kolb might be losing ground in the back up slot. Jeff Tuel completed 19 of 23 passes for 2 touchdowns and a 134.1 rating.

”They said, ‘We’re going to ease you in.’ And I said, ‘No you’re not. I want you to put me in,”’ Kolb said, via the Associated Press. ”I wasn’t going to waste another day. I wanted to get out there.”

It is still uncertain whether Kolb plays in Friday’s preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.

“I’d love to tell you right now that I’m playing for sure, but that’s not necessarily correct,” Kolb said.
