Philadelphia 76ers waive Justin Holiday

The Philadelphia 76ers have waived guard Justin Holiday yesterday according to Eric Pincus on Twitter.

Last season Holiday was called up from the Idaho Stampede of the development league on April 1st. So with Jason Richardson possibly out for the year, the only shooting guards left on this team are James Anderson and Evan Turner who was supposed to play more small forward this season.

He averaged 4.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.6 while appearing injust nine games last season. He is the brother of all-star point guard Jrue Holiday. His brother Jrue was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans on June 27th during the NBA draft.

Justin was set to get some guaranteed money from the franchise if he wasn’t waived prior to August 15th, which is probably why he was released.

Well now that he is a free agent, he could possibly follow his brother Jrue to New Orleans or see if he can kick start his career over seas.

With releasing Holiday, this could be an opening for the 76ers to make a play for former Los Angeles Laker guard Chris Duhon.
