Two outstanding NFL stars have come forward in light of Johnny Football’s recent autograph scandal. Both Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant believe that Manziel should be making money for his autographs. While the NCAA ruling on the policy of the topic seems to be a grey area for most collegiate players, many feel that these athletes should be allowed to benefit in some way from something as simple as their signature. Here’s what the two NFL players had to say in defense of Johnny Manziel.

Dez Bryant’s response:

"[Manziel] should be able to sign as many autographs and make as much money as he wants because it’s his name. I feel like he’s the one who created it. He should be able to do [with it] whatever he feels as long as it’s legal, and I don’t think there’s anything illegal about signing a picture of yourself and making money off it. Shoot, the NCAA is making money off of it when they’re selling those No. 2 shirts. Why can’t he make a little bit of money off of it?"

And here is the response from the most recent NFL MVP, Adrian Peterson, in an interview with Ross Jones of FOXSports.com:

"The universities are making a lot of money off of student-athletes in general. So, yeah, he should be able to make money. I think so. They make millions off of these college athletes and they made millions off of the guys I played with as well. Yeah, he should be getting paid."

Both quotes came from an article on Sports Illustrated.

What’s your opinion, do you think Johnny Manziel and other NCAA athletes shouldbe able to earn money from signing autographs?
