Tampa Bay Rays fans breathe a collective sigh of relief knowing that right-hander Alex Cobb will be returning to the Rays lineup tonight as they look to take the series against the Seattle Mariners tonight.

This will be the first game back for Cobb since June 15th. Cobb has been sidelined since June 15th after being hit in the head with a line drive off the bat of Eric Hosmer of the Kansas City Royals at Tropicana Field.

Cobb told MLB.com that he had no doubts that he would be able to come back to the mound good as new.

"I always expected to get rid of all the symptoms,” Cobb said. “The doctors let me know everything was going to be all right after we knew there was no skull fracture or bleeding in the brain on the first night. We knew it was going to be a slow, steady recovery process and once that was over, I would be back to normal.”"

Prior to taking the shot to the head, and giving Rays fans one big collective heart attack, Cobb had made 13 starts earning himself a 6-2 record with an ERA of 3.01.

Hopefully, Cobb’s return can continue the momentum that the Rays started on Wednesday night with the walk-off 5-4 victory against Seattle.

After one of the best months the Rays have seen, they suddenly dropped 6 games in a row, and were dangerously close to losing their third straight series.

Right now, the Tampa Bay Rays are three games behind the Boston Red Sox for control of the American League East, and are currently leading the pack in the American League for a Wild Card spot.

The Rays take on the Mariners tonight at 7:10 p.m. EST at Tropicana Field.
