While August is usually one of the quietest months for NBA roster movement, the Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies are doing their best to change that.
At this time, it’s unknown how interested Boston is.
Greene, who was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 2008 has struggled to make an impact in the league, though, in fairness was yanked around by the previous Kings ownership.
Melo on the other hand, who is only two years younger than Greene played in just six games for the Celtics this past season, splitting time in the NBDL.
With little need for Greene, the Grizzlies are hopeful they can obtain the raw, though, talented Melo to backup both Marc Gasol and Kosta Koufos. For Boston, Greene would provide wing depth and lineup versatility as the former Orangeman can play (limited) power forward, small forward and shooting guard, if need be.
Update: The trade has been made official.
