Kentucky Wildcats recruit Angel Delgado commits to Seton Hall
By Jason Marcum
According to Evan Daniels of Fox Sports and Scout.com, 2014 power forward Angel Delgado has committed to Seton Hall. The four-star forward, who is listed at 6-8, 215 lbs., is regarded as one of high school basketball’s best rebounders and most energetic players.
Delgado was rumored to have had a top-5 of Seton Hall, Kentucky, Virginia, Florida State and Fordham, and it appeared as though he was going to hold off a commitment in hopes of getting scholarship offer from UK.
Delgado is a native of the Dominican Republic, and UK assistant Orlando Antigua is the head coach of the Dominican Republic national team, which used to be run by UK’s John Calipari. UK already has a 2014 commitment from Karl Towns Jr., who is friends with Delgado and plays on the Dominican National team.
It’s also worth noting that Delgado’s AAU coach, Dana Dingle, played for Calipari on Massachusetts’ 1996 Final Four team and remains close with the coach.
Delgado recently completed a transferred from Redemption Christian (NY) to Huntington Prep in West Virginia for his senior year, which is closer to UK’s campus, and would have given Calipari more chances to scout Delgdao.
