Kobe Bryant let fans get to know him “up close” at an event at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The event and one on one interview was hosted by Bryant’s friend Jimmy Kimmel and was aired on Mark Cuban’s AXS TV channel. Yes, the same Mark Cuban who said the Lakers would be wise to amnesty Kobe and may have motivated him to put up 38 points against the Dallas Mavericks later.
The theater was filled with roughly 7,100 fans and all the ticket proceeds benefited the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation, which works to help end homelessness.
For the most part Kimmel kept the conversation light.
Jimmy Kimmel asked Bryant, who will be a free agent in 2014, if he’d finish his career with the Lakers.
Kobe had a simple answer: “Yeah.”
He also said that his 17-year career is “definitely not over.”
“I just want that jewelry,” Bryant said, via NBA.com, about pursuing a sixth NBA Championship ring.
A sixth ring would give him as many as Michael and 1 more than legendary Lakers point guard Magic Johnson.
“People just don’t understand how obsessed I am with winning.”
