There were a few transactions that took place for the Los Angels before a weekend series against the Houston Astros.
Center fielder Peter Bourjos has been reinstated from the Los Angeles Angels’ 15-day disabled list, and shortstop Tommy Field has been optioned to the minors.
Bourjos has missed 39 games with a broken right wrist after getting hurt June 29 against Houston. He was in the Angels’ starting lineup Friday night, playing center field and batting ninth.
Bourjos has played in just 40 games this season. He’s hitting a .333 batting average. He played in 18 games after his first stint on the DL, getting 17 hits in 46 at-bats with two RBIs and one home run.
Field has been with the team since July 21st and played in just seven of those games. In 16 at-bats, he has two hits, zero RBIs, and five strikeouts. He’s normally come in during switches in the game, only having three or more at-bats in four games. He’s played a total of 10 games with the team.
While Field probably saw his final time with the team for at least this season, the Angels will hope Bourjos can give them any kind of spark.
