The Los Angeles Dodgers are a red hot team in the major leagues right now and decided today to option short stop Dee Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque.
The Dodgers made the moves before opening a seven game road trip that begins in Philadelphia later tonight. Gordon went 5 for 14 through six games since the Dodgers brought him back up on August 5th, while making three errors at short stop during their victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday.
Hanley Ramirez returned to the lineup on Wednesday after being out nine games due to an injured right shoulder.
Gordon is hitting just .208 with his stints with the Dodgers this season.
With Gordon going down, Van Slyke will get his fourth stint with the Dodgers this season alone. He has a batting line of .242/.327/.505 in 26 games with six home runs and 15 RBI’s with the major league club.
With outfielder Andre Ethier out with a calf injury, he should provide this dangerous Dodgers team with some depth in the outfield.
