After a tumultuous rookie campaign last year, Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden has looked like a changed man as he’s taken hold of the offense under new offensive coordinator Norv Turner. Weeden has taken all the reps with the first team in practice and started both preseason games, leading five scoring drives in six possessions during his time on the field.
Sounds like someone who would have been named the starter by now, right?
Not Browns Head Coach Rob Chudzinski, who said today that Weeden’s competition with Jason Campbell:
#Browns Chud on Weeden: “I’m still going to wait to name a starter. Go through the process.” Said he played really well.

Last night vs. the Detroit Lions, Weeden connected on TD passes of 10 and 5 yards to tight end Jordan Cameron in the first half as the Browns opened a 17-0 lead. Weeden finished 8/12 for 117 yards. In two weeks, he’s 18/25 for 229 yards and three TDs.
It’s his job to lose, and with those numbers, he’d have to do a lot to lose it at this point.
