Depleted by injury, the San Diego Chargers have brought in wide receiver Seyi Ajirotutu for a workout, this according to Annie Helibrunn.

"I’m told the #Chargers are bringing in WR Seyi Ajirotutu for a physical and a workout today."

The Chargers have already lost top wideout Danario Alexander for the season thanks to a torn ACL, an injury they also feared fellow top receiver Malcom Floyd to have suffered. Thankfully though after two MRI’s, Floyd was deemed to have nothing more than a knee sprain and should have no problem suiting up for Week 1.

That said – the Chargers still aren’t looking so hot in their wide receiver corps and could certainly do worse than Ajirotutu, who spent the vast majority of 2012 with the Chargers organization though never played as he was put in the injured reserve.

If the Chargers do indeed sign Ajirotutu, it would be the third time since 2010 when the former Fresno State standout caught four balls for 111 yards and two touchdowns against the Houston Texas. Unfortunately, the rest of his 2010 season with San Diego was sub-par which resulted in him being claimed off waivers by the Carolina Panthers. Carolina released him after their final preseason game in 2011.
