In a pretty obvious move, the Arizona Diamondbacks have activated right handed starting pitcher Trevor Cahill from the 15 day disabled list.
In order to make room for Cahill, the Diamondbacks have optioned right handed pitcher Chaz Roe to Triple-A Reno. The 26 year old has a 5.40 ERA over five appearances with at the major league level for the D’Backs.
Cahill will make his first appearance against the Pirates since being placed on the disabled list on July 1st with a hip contusion and a hurt shoulder. The right handed pitcher has been rehabbing with the Diamondbacks Arizona league affiliate and at Triple-A Reno to prepare for his return to the major league.
Before he was placed on the disabled list, he was off to one of the worst stretches of his career. In June he lost five starts in six outings to go along with a massive 9.85 ERA in only 24.2 innings of work in a single month. He pitched well during the first two months of the season, having a 2.84 and 2.91 ERA in April and May.
He’s looking to bounce back and finish the season strong in the last six weeks of the regular season.
