NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Danica Patrick is gearing up for the Pure Michigan 400 on Sunday. In a conversation she had with USA Today Sports about the injured Tony Stewart, Patrick also touched on the preparatory work she’s doing before the race, saying the adjustments made to her car give it a whole different feel:
I struggled [at the Michigan International Speedway back in June] and didn’t feel very comfortable, but we worked really, really hard on trying to get a car that was more consistent and predictable and felt better. Actually, we kind of started working toward it here in the race, and by the end of the race I felt really good.
We made a lot of improvements and have continued to make improvements since we were here last. When I first went out on the track, I thought, ‘Man, this feels like a whole different car.’ While literally it probably is, it just feels so much better than the last time.
You can check out the results from the qualifying runs here. ESPN’s coverage of the Pure Michigan 400 begins at 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday.
