You all remember former NFL running back Ricky Williams right? Blessed with all the talent in the world, the former Heisman Trophy winner had the league in his hand but the only thing he really wanted in his hand was a joint (or seven).
Williams, who recently began his collegiate coaching career at the University of the Incarnate Word (yeah, me either) in San Antonio played parts of 11 seasons in the NFL, though, never lived up to the promise that his accolades suggested.
It’s something he feels current Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel may struggle with as well, recently speaking about the embattled star in an interview.
Never one to hold his tongue, Williams discussed the pressures of being a former Heisman Trophy winner, but then left with a parting shot towards Manziel:
Per Keye TV:
“You know once you win the Heisman trophy, there’s going to be more attention on you,” said Williams. “You are probably not going to be able to get away with all the stuff you got away with before. To the media I would say, if the media did their research on who this kid was, nobody would be surprised.”
Man down, man down.
