After a lackluster middleweight fight between Uriah Hall and John Howard, UFC welterweights Matt Brown and Mike Pyle were looking to breathe life back in to the TD Garden and give the Boston fans something to cheer for. Each man had won at least for fights in a row, so they were looking to break through to the top 10 with another impressive victory.
Brown and Pyle are former training partners, so there were plenty of bragging rights at stake during their UFC Fight Night 26 bout.
The two fighters wasted no time going right at it and Matt Brown’s aggression immediately took it’s toll on Pyle. A right hand and strong knee sent Pyle to the canvas where Brown delivered some brutal ground-and-pound to knock Pyle out cold.
Kyle protested the stoppage, but he had no idea how unconscious he was. It was the sixth win a row for Brown.
The official time of the stoppage was 29 seconds of the first round.
