Hoping to get a step on the rest of their competition, the Brooklyn Nets are scheduled to participate in a players only workout camp, put on by point guard Deron Williams.

The ‘camp’, which will take place in California is expected to draw the vast majority of the Nets roster Westward in attempts to not only improve their on-court relationships, but off, considering all the new faces.

Two noticeable absences from the camp though will be Reggie Evans and Andrei Kirilenko, who according to Stefan Bondy, will not be attending:

D-Will has again organized players-only workouts in Cali, with Pierce and KG in attendance. He tells Daily News that only players who couldn’t make it are Andray Blatche (funeral), Reggie Evans (wife expecting), Mirza Teletovic (playing internationally), Tornike Shengelia (coming off knee surgery) and Andrei Kirilenko (getting situated with family in NY). Williams organized this last year when the team trained at the Nets practice facility in New Jersey.

Certainly a solid move from Williams, who is trying to emerge as the leader of the squad despite the additions of both Pierce and Garnett.
