The Los Angeles Dodgers don’t exactly need much help right now, considering they’ve ran a gauntlet on Major League Baseball the last two months, but help was expected anyway.
After signing former longtime San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson to a minor league contract earlier this month, the Dodgers were expected to activate the bearded one before their game this afternoon. However, that has apparently changed according to Bill Plunkett who says the Dodgers will wait a few more days:
#Dodgers do not plan to make a move with Brian Wilson today. Could be activated from the DL in the next day or two.
Mgr Don Mattingly said there is no hurry to activate him following Friday’s sim-game because “you want him to be fresh. You don’t want him to be sorta fresh. You want him to be totally fresh — Doug E. Fresh.”
As interesting as the Wilson news is, I’m more concerned over the fact that Mattingly decided it was a good idea to throw that Doug E. Fresh reference in there.
