The Philadelphia Eagles have finally named their starting quarterback. After two preseason games, the decision was easy, but head coach Chip Kelly made it official when he announced that Michael Vick would get the starting nod over Nick Foles for the team’s Week One match up against the division rival Washington Redskins.

With his performance in the preseason, it was clear that Vick had the leg up in the quarterback competition, so when Kelly told reporters today that Vick would be the man it came as no real surprise.

Kelly’s offense is expected to be a handful for opposing defenses with their high volume of plays and trying to snap the ball every fifteen seconds, so when you add in Vick’s dual threat ability and speed it makes the Eagles new offense that much more dangerous.

Foles did an admirable job in the quarterback race and rookie Matt Barkley was never really in the discussion, but you can’t deny how well Vick stepped up when the pressure was on and pulled away as the clear favorite.
