Serena Williams given top seed for U.S. Open

As was revealed on Tuesday, Serena Williams will be the top seed for the upcoming U.S. Open at Flushing Meadows (where she won in 2012). The woman who beat her at the Western and Southern Open, Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, will be the second seed. Maria Sharapova, sans gimmicky name-change, will be the third seed, and Poland’s Agnieszka Radwanska will be fourth.
