Multiple sources are reporting that rapper DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested once again late last night in South Carolina.
Apparently, DMX was the passenger in a truck that was pulled over late Tuesday night for executing an illegal U-turn. While performing the routine stop, the officers revealed that the rapper had an outstanding warrant for driving under suspension.
Upon inspection of the vehicle, Greer Police uncovered marijuana in the vehicle. Both DMX and the driver of the vehicle, Anitra Shalawn Rhodes, were charged with possession.
According to the police report, officers claim that the rapper smelled like he was drunk and was in possession of weed at the time of the arrest. This is according to TMZ.
DMX adamantly denies that he did nothing wrong, and that he had no knowledge of the drugs in the vehicle. To the contrary, TMZ is reporting that police found the weed in the arm rest of the passenger door, where DMX was sitting, plus an additional three bags under the driver’s floor board.
TMZ is also reporting that the rapper has indeed been released from jail; however, he is not off the hook. They say that police have informed them that the DMX has been placed on house arrest. At this point it is unknown how long he will remain under watch.
This is certainly not the first time that DMX has been in trouble with the law. In July, he was arrested in Greenville County for the driving under suspension charge that spawned his most recently warrant issues, as well as driving under the influence.
He was also arrested on February 13th for driving without a license. In August of 2011, the rapper was arrested in Phoenix for speeding. He was clocked as doing 102 mph in a 65 mph zone. He was also charged with reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
As you can see, some people never learn.
