Kentucky Wildcats - Louisville Cardinals Football game moved to end of '14 season

With realignment affecting many of the great rivalries in college football, it was inevitable that the annual Bluegrass showdown between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Louisville Cardinals was affected. Fortunately, at least for the time being, the rivalry will continue, but it will be in an unfamiliar part of the schedule for both teams.

The UK football team has released it’s schedule for the 2014 college football season, and there are several big changes in store, including the annual UK-UL rivalry game being moved to the end of the season”

As requested by the SEC and the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Kentucky vs. Louisville game will be moved to the final game of the regular season beginning in 2014. The leagues moved the game as a result of adjustments in scheduling brought on by the conference expansions undertaken in both the SEC and ACC.

For the `14 season, the Cardinals will play host to the Wildcats on Nov. 29.

There had been talk with the difficulty of the SEC haven rose so much lately, UK might be better off discontinuing the rivalry. But thankfully, both sides will for now continue what’s one of many great traditional rivalries.
