USC Trojans wide receiver Marqise Lee knows head coach Lane Kiffin has a difficult choice to make when it comes to selecting the starting quarterback. Both Cody Kessler and Max Wittek have played well during training camp, and Kiffin has been evasive when asked which of the two quarterbacks he’s leaning towards.
Lee, however, would like to see Kiffin make his choice soon, considering the first game of the year is right around the corner. Lee joked about his impatience to ESPNLosAngeles.com:
Dude, this is crazy. I’m still waiting. I don’t know when coach Kiffin is going to actually decide but I hope it’s Friday because that’s when we start our (preparation for Hawaii).
It would be good to know by Friday. Would you all like to know by Friday? It would be good to know by Friday but it’s up to coach Kiffin and at the end of the day I’ll be waiting just like you guys.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say Lee would like to know the identity of the starting quarterback by Friday. That’s just a hunch, though.
Both Wittek and Kessler were impressive in the Trojans’ fall scrimmage. Wittek was 15-for-20 for 231 yards and threw a touchdown. Kessler performed just as well, going 13-for-22 for 218 yards and two touchdowns (but also two interceptions).
USC fans can be thankful, though, that no matter which quarterback gets the starting nod from Kiffin, he will be throwing to some very talented receivers.
