Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva could co-headline UFC 167

After defeating Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 167, three-time UFC title contender Chael Sonnen delivered an epic post-fight interview where he called out Wanderlei Silva. It has been no secret that the two men have been hoping to get inside of the octagon together and UFC president Dana White said during an appearance on FOX Sports Live that they will finally get their wish, but it depends on Silva’s health.

“If Wanderlei’s healthy, I will definitely make it UFC 167′s co-main event,” White stated.

Sonnen has won three of his past fights, with the only losses coming to the top two pound-for-pound fighters in the game — Anderson Silva and Jon Jones. He has been actively seeking a bout with Wanderlei, who has also been in the win column in three of his past five outings.

It would be an exciting match up between two of the sports most aggressive fighters, so we have our fingers crossed that Silva will be healthy enough to fight in November.

UFC 167 is scheduled to take place on November 16 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be headlined by a welterweight title bout between champion Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks. Another important 170 pound match up between Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler will also take place on the card.

No other bouts have been officially announced for the event.
