Dallas Mavericks guard Monta Ellis is NBA's fastest player says head coach

The Dallas Mavericks are excited to have landed a second legitimate scoring threat behind Dirk Nowitzki. More than his ability to scored the Mavericks are excited about his ability to push the pace and tempo of their offense.

Something that the older team of the past few years has lacked. Something guard J.J. Barea brought to the table before leaving after their championship run in 2011.

In fact the Mavs’ head coach and owner think he could be the fastest.

According to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News: “Rick Carlisle has called newcomer Monta Ellis the fastest player in basketball, and Mark Cuban echoed that sentiment.”

“I never thought I’d see somebody make J.J. [Barea] look slow,” Cuban said. “Monta’s a blur. Monta truly is a one-man fast-break.”

The Mavs could certainly use some speed on their offense, something that has been lacking. Fast break points are easy buckets and a great way for an NBA offense to win.
