ESPN is building a new huge set for its popular SportsCenter show at the cost of $125 million.
Next year, ESPN will open up its new “Digital Center 2,” which will cost more than $125 million to build, reports Those Guys Have All The Fun co-author Jim Miller. SportsCenter will be housed in the 193,000 square foot building.
ESPN invites you to “go inside the future home of SportsCenter” with a digital tour of ESPN’s new SportsCenter set. The digitially animated tour is hosted by SportsCenter anchor Steve Levy.
The video shows Levy standing in the middle of Digital Center 2 as it looks now. He says the studio “nearly 10,000 square feet” big and has a multiple stand up and desk anchor positions. The main desk has a video display built into the floor in front of it.
To the left of it is a six screen video wall, the digital rendering shows the screens moving as the anchors stand there. There is also the “primary debate and interview” area featuring 4 chairs and a coffee table in front of a screen. A one of a kind multi-dimension monitor he says.
Behind the main desk is a glass wall separating that area from a second half of the set.
