According to Adam Caplan of Sirius XM radio and ESPN, Detroit Lions free safety Louis Delmas will play in Thursday night’s game against the New England Patriots while wide receiver Calvin Johnson will not.
Delmas has fought injuries for the last two season, playing in just 19 games after playing in 30 games during his first two season. Last year, he was limited to just eight games and finished the season with 38 tackles and one interception.
Johnson also fought injuries last season, but played in every game. He caught 122 passes for 1,964 yards and five touchdowns. The Lions are listing Johnson as out with a knee contusion.
In other news, Ras-I Dowling will be out for the Patriots. The third year cornerback has played in just nine career games for the Patriots.
The Lions are 1-1 in the preseason, beating the New York Jets 26-17 in week one before falling to the Cleveland Browns 24-6 in week two. The Patriots are 2-0, defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 31-22 in week on and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 25-21 in week two.
