SEC coaches name Aaron Murray first-team preseason QB

The SEC released their Coaches’ 2013 Preseason All-SEC team on Thursday morning and there was a bit of a surprise on the first-team offense. Rather than having Texas A&M Aggies star quarterback Johnny Manziel leading the way at quarterback, the coaches voted on Georgia’s Aaron Murray to receive the top honor.

Murray got the nod over Manziel, who won the Heisman Trophy as a freshman last year, and A.J. McCarron, who led Alabama to their second-straight national championship win.

It does say a lot about Murray as a player for the coaches around the top conference in college football to think so highly of him, but it also could show just how tired of Johnny Manziel and his off-field antics.

However, in the end, the preseason list doesn’t mean much.

We will have to see what the All-SEC team looks like at the end of the season.
