College football and the NFL are about to take over the sporting world in the next few weels, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be some noteworthy college basketball stories to come out. There will be a big one coming this weekend, as five-star Dallas point guard Emmanuel Mudiay is set to announce college decision during the Elite 24 game on ESPNU Saturday night at 7 p.m. EST

Mudiay is ranked as the top point guard by most recruiting services, and the top overall prospect in the 2014 class by 247Sports. Mudiay will be choosing between Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma State and SMU.

Larry Brown-coached Southern Methodist, in Mudiay’s hometown of Dallas, has also been considered a strong contender, and recent developments make it look like Mudiay may surprisingly be favoring SMU:

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman says the word circulating is that Mudiay will choose between SMU and Kentucky, and he thinks that SMU will ultimately win out for the elite talent.
