The UFC received some bad news about the health of rising featherweight prospect Conor McGregor’s injured knee. McGregor said after his win against Max Holloway at UFC Fight Night 26 that he heard his knee pop early in the fight and it forced him to alter his strategy and fight a little less exciting than before.
Now, after multiple tests, McGregor has learned the full extent of the damage he suffered.
According to UFC president Dana White on FOX Sports Live, McGregor has a torn ACL, torn posterior meniscus and a strained MCL.
McGregor is expected to be out for ten months.
He was hoping to fight again at UFC 168 against Diego Brandao, but he will be on the shelf for an extended period of time and he will need to find a way to occupy his time while he waits to get back inside of the octagon.
The decision win at UFC Fight Night 26 was the first non-stoppage victory in McGregor’s career.
We wish him a fully and speedy recovery.
