St. Louis Rams to honor Deacon Jones with special decal
By Josh Sanchez
Pro Football Hall of Famer Deacon Jones passed away earlier this summer at the age of 74 and the St. Louis Rams will pay tribute to the all-time great defensive end during the 2013-14 NFL season. “The Secretary of Defense” coined the term “sack”, and many will believe that the honor from the organization is long overdue.
St. Louis will be wearing a decal on their helmet that features the Rams logo and Jones’ iconic No. 75.
The Rams organization announced the news on Friday.
“Deacon Jones was a legend who was cherished by generations of NFL fans and players,” Rams COO Kevin Demoff said in a statement, via Pro Football Talk. “Our team is proud to wear his number on our helmets throughout the season to honor his meaning to this organization.”

St. Louis will also be honoring members of Jones’ family during their season-opener on September 8 against the division rival Arizona Cardinals.
