For most NBA teams, you build your way to success. And after you achieve that success, you strip things down and rebuild, usually through the NBA Draft though if you’re lucky you can snag a prized free agent.
That’s not the mentality of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban though who doesn’t believe in the ‘rebuilding’ mentality. He apparently prefers to ‘re-tool’ as evidenced by his mass amount of free agent signings during this current offseason.
Speaking to the Dallas Morning News, Cuban was asked if this year would be a rebuilding answer which promoted quite the strong response from the opinionated owner:
“Oh no. Hell no. Don’t even go there. Look, there’s no template for winning in the NBA. … Dirk’s got to be healthy and he’s working hard. He’s been in the gym every single day looking great. Then we’ve got to come together as a team. We’ve got Samuel Dalembert, Monta Ellis, Wayne Ellington, DeJuan Blair. We brought in a lot of really good players and now it’s up to Coach Carlisle to make it all work together.”
If you say so, Mark.
