Stewart-Haas Racing competition director Greg Zipadelli said on Friday that the team is one step closer to signing driver Kurt Busch for the 2014 season. Busch would be the fourth driver for SHR, joining Tony Stewart, Danica Patrick, and Kevin Harvick.

Zipadelli addressed the developing situation in an interview:

As far as Kurt’s deal, that is moving forward. We spent time this week talking about buildings and expanding. So as far as that part goes, we’re pretty much committed.

If we can get it all worked out, we’re going to add that link (ESPN).

Busch himself refused to reveal if Stewart-Haas Racing has contacted him directly, but he did say that he’s being courted by various crews:

It’s nice when the phone is ringing and that people are asking what my future plans are and people want me to be a part of a program with them. It’s been a journey to say the least since things turned at the end of 2011.

Busch would obviously be a huge signing for SHR. We will keep you updated when more information is made available.
