St.Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright prefers to finishes what he starts. It came as no surprise that he threw another complete games this season against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.

He is the true definition of a workhorse, with him throwing five complete games this season, and leads all National League starters with 15 wins on the season. The ace of the Cardinals staff  wants to go the distance every time he pitches and this is exactly what you want from your best pitcher on the team.

He gives his club the best chance to win when he starts, and it’s one of the reasons that the Cardinals have a chance to make the post season. The right-hander has displayed excellent control this season by only walking 25 batters in 198.2 innings pitched. He also rarely gives up Home runs, with him only surrendering 0.5 per nine innings.

Wainwright has thrown seven or more innings in his last seven consecutive starts and there has been only five starts this season where he did not throw at least seven innings. He’s an old-school pitcher that likes to earn his wins the hard way.

It’s almost a guarantee that when he starts, the bullpen can just take the day off  judging by his performance this season.
